ScrumU Small Group Meeting July 29, 2011Submitted by tweber1 on Fri, 07/29/2011 - 2:03pm |
Attendees: MNSCU (Dick), U of Alaska (Peter), ND (Tracy, Scott), Wake Forest (Art, Steve)
Wake Forest - attended Southern Fried Agile conference, talked to NetObjectives. 2nd year they've done it, good conference. Had a Banner code camp recently, for Groovy Grails for various schools in the region. Definitely worth it. Working on Banner upgrade, UC4. Working on prioritizing product backlog.
U of Alaska - in middle of custom web time entry. Going live with this soon. Having challenges identifying scrum space - decided to turn his office into Scrum space. Trying to identify white board options. Discussed white board paint and wallpaper as options. Also melamine panels that you can get at home improvement stores - those are a good deal and work well.
MNSCU - embarking on Grails proof of concept. Attempted a number of Java conversions - successful but not cheap. Looking at Grails as possible productivity improvement. Working on test driven development efforts, using Cucumber which was recommended by Agile consultant. Tryign to cover all functionality with automated tests. QA people are hard to get, so this will hopefully help with QA. Should have a good sense of how it's going in about 2 months. Budget issues settling down.
ND - "AgileND" group going well - meeting every couple months, great to see how different people are using Scrum/Agile techniques and adapting to different customers, products, styles, etc. 2 Scrum projects recognized for "Team Irish" awards, which is great acklowledgement at University level. Some big projects starting up so hoping these will Scrum.
