ND Update - Exploring "hybrid Scrum" on Banner Upgrade. One new Scrum project is starting up now. Have 3 other projects that are actively Scrumming. One more Scrum team will spin off from those for a data warehouse effort. 2 weeks sprints working well for Performing Arts project - by the time we get to the end of one sprint, we're getting nervous about things we need to do next, then we have a sprint planning and we're good to go. Scrum structure really helps with accountability, even during really busy times, we're still getting things done whereas in previous projects would have slipped. Even when a team member can't make it to daily Scrum one day, still know what they signed up for, and have a sense of not wanting to let the team down.
GA Tech - Working on getting a few more people through Scrummaster training. Parent portal initiative currently scrumming. 2 weeks sprints are good. Trying an 18 day sprint for the last sprint right now. This is the 4th project run with Scrum. Working to define interdependencies, pushing toward a final deliverable. Hard to get people 100% dedicated, have to be flexible. Talked about technical decisions, deciding early on. Working on narrowing down scope with product owner.
Talked about what's the lowest level of detail for story/task breakdown. Probably depends on tolerance of Scrummaster. Some are OK with really small tasks, or might want to facilitate group to estimating at a higher level task.
